The Dog Debate

The past couple of days on the XL96 Big Breakfast we've been talking about having a dog in the back of a pick up truck unrestrained......is it breaking the law?

Here is what I found out: There is no law in the Motor Vehicle Act that says it is against the law to carry a pet in the back of a truck (just people) HOWEVER, in accordance with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, you can be charged for doing so unrestrained. To see the animal cruelty act, visit www.gnb.ca/acts/acts/s-12.htm. The info is under section 20 of the Animal Cruelty act. This law is enforced by the New Brunswick SPCA.

Thanks to everyone (whether you agreed with me or not) for calling in on this debate.

Sonia
